Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the Northwestern region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km southwest of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Process Metallurgical Intern
Role Summary
Reporting to the Senior Shift Supervisor/Senior Metallurgist, your duties will include but not limited to the following;
Responsibilities
- Ensure efficient operation of the plant area by maintaining circuit parameters as directed by the senior Shift Supervisor.
- Ensure safe and optimal utilization of all fixed plant throughout the processing area as required to maintain circuit parameters
- Ensure effective use of consumables including grinding media and chemical reagents.
- Record all operating parameters and changes as required by the Senior Shift Supervisor/Senior Metallurgist.
- Maintain communications with Shift Supervisors, all other processing personnel and Metallurgical personnel’s as and when required.
- Maintain clean and orderly workplace by controlling placement of supplies, Spillage cleanup and normal housekeeping.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 School Certificate
- Must be a recent graduate from a recognized learning institution
- Degree/Diploma in Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering or related field
- Good communication Skills
- Willingness to Learn
- Attention to detail
- Experience in managing costs and budgeting
